Marine department of Texas Co. realized necessity for compiling workable statistics which would be concise, yet readily show complete trend of accidents occurring on board its vessels; primary purpose in compilation of personnel accident statistics was to reveal conditions which might result in injury to crews, so that remedial measures could be applied; quarterly, or at least semiannually, statistics covering all accidents reported by vessels should be prepared.
