Details of Southern Railway Company's new express steamer " Canterbury," carrying only first-class passengers; length, o.a. 335 ft., breadth, extreme 48 ft.; Isle of Thanet is about same length and depth, but has molded breadth of 45 ft. 1 1/2 in.; propelled by twin screws driven by two sets of Parsons-type turbines, through single-reduction gearing, designed revolutions of propellers at full power being 260; steam is generated by four water-tube boilers of Babcock and Wilcox type, working at pressure of 225 lb. per sq. in.
