Standard Unit Navigation Co. of St. Louis has installed new system of river transportation on Cumberland river in Tennessee; electrically propelled towboats, with caterpillar drive are used to move barge trains up and down river hauling freight; Sunco-A4 is 90 ft. long and equipped with two Winton 6-cylinder, solid-injection Diesel engines; directly connected to each engine are two generators and exciter; two propulsion engines develop total of 160 hp. at 600 r.p. m., power being transmitted to wheel drive shafts by means of drive chains.
