Wheel trafficability tests on snow trench floor were conducted at Camp Century, Greenland, in 1962, with two types of l-p tires and with standard truck tires on M-54 5-ton truck with 5-ton load; skid tests were performed and friction coefficient between tires and processed snow surface was determined; 1300 ft long, standard gage railroad track was installed in trench after wheel traffic tests; standard size flatcar with 30-ton load, towed by 5-ton truck equipped with rail wheels, was used for rail traffic tests.
