Problems of carrying out comet intercept mission are examined; properties of 31 short-term comets have been examined to determine feasibility of mission to any of them during next 15 yr; injection energies for each of these comets at suitable launch period were determined, and distance of earth at intercept, transit and flight times, and guidance requirements were evaluated; to determine feasibility of such mission, payload capability of available boosters was examined, and spacecraft configuration with appropriate subsystems was developed.
