Paper considers constraints affecting choice of basic attitude control system to be used and tradeoffs in selection, sizing, and mode of operation of components with which it may be implemented; primary characteristics of techniques and hardware are classified according to characteristic requirements; examples are drawn from existing spacecraft; systems under development are also considered.
