Three methods of testing mobility systems of lunar surface vehicles (LSV's) under simulated lunar gravity conditions and types of mobility test articles (MTA's) required for such tests are discussed; outline for LSV mobility test program is given, based on three types of MTA' s, namely, Block I, with linear scale of 1 to 1 and mass scale of 1 to 6; Block II, which is MTA Block I ballasted to its full mass; and Block III, which has small linear scale and mass scale corresponding to applicable model scaling laws; MTA Block II requires use of lunar gravity simulator; several types of such simulator are discussed.
