Guidance technique using new display approach, including feasibility study results, is presented for guidance of lifting entry vehicle; capability to manually stabilize trajectory and maneuver vehicle to desired range is derived through use of graphical display of trajectory in terms of drag and velocity squared; aspects of parameter sensing, computing, displaying, and manual controlling are investigated; block diagram shows for constant-Lift/Drag-type vehicle, sensor and computer requirements for down- and cross-range control; simulation results show entries under manual control and error analysis for down-range control reveals that range can be controlled to within 10 nautical mi.
