Effects of ablation species on wake ionization are examined through computations of distributions of aerothermochemical properties throughout wake flowfield for typical re-entry vehicle flight condition; to ascertain effects separately, four different chemical subsystems are treated, namely, pure air; air plus sodium; air, sodium, and hydrogen; and air, sodium, hydrogen, and carbon monoxide systems; results demonstrate that ablation species exert significant influences on wake ionization and must be properly accounted for in studies of ablating body wakes.
