Ranger and Mariner II missions reviewed from tracking standpoint; real-time flight-path analysis and performance experienced during Ranger VI and VII missions are discussed in terms of " correctness" of real-time orbit estimates and execution errors of midcourse maneuver; results of determination of physical constants from earth-based radio tracking of Mariner II and Ranger II I through VII missions; role of earth-based radio guidance (EBRG) for Mariner IV, Surveyor, and Apollo missions is discussed.
