It is shown that night accidents can be considerably reduced by qualified road lighting provided that certain requirements are fulfilled on its luminance, luminance variation and glare; sodium discharge lamp is considered best source of light for qualified road lighting; roadway reflexes from road lighting are shown to have decisive importance for result of lighting installation and give basis of certain requirements on location of lanterns.
