High-speed tube transportation system under study at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is described, with particular attention given to areas of propulsion, vehicle support, electrical power, and operation; important reductions in power are possible through use of novel mode of propulsion which utilizes tube and its contained air as means for propulsion; vehicle is supported by fluid suspension and is capable of high subsonic or supersonic speeds.
