Data are based on about 100,000 observations reported by Japanese ships during 1957 through 1960, compiled in response to proposal of Environmental Condition Committee of International Ship Structures Congress; compilation for frequency of occurrence on each of eight small sea zones, in each of four seasons, considers various combinations of wind velocity and direction, and wave height, direction, wave period vs wave height, wave height vs wind speed and period; annual averages for individual sea zone and for whole of these waters; comparison of relations between waves and winds with data from other sources.
