Results of experiments on series of side valve turbulent heads of constant head throat area but having head clearances varying in steps of 1/16 inch from 0.022 inch to 0.272 inch; in order to investigate possibility of igniting very thin layer of combustible mixture and to obtain information with regard to detonation in small head clearances in Ricardo turbulent head.
