Causes of inadequate durability in relation to such factors as softening temperature, mechanical strength at normal and high temperatures, reversible thermal expansion or contraction, resistance to abrasion and to slag attack, resistance to abrupt changes in temperatures, and changes in properties after prolonged exposure to high temperatures.
