Necessity for increasing safety in flight of gliders has led to development of brake surface arrangement with which highly satisfactory results were obtained; brake valve has now been applied experimentally to Focke Wulf power airplane, with view to reducing diving speed; present status of vertical dive brakes for both types of airplanes discussed.
