Two trains comprised of new air conditioned steel coaches, for South African Railways, built by Metropolitan-Cammell Carriage and Wagon Co, Saltley, Birmingham, are made up of 12 day and sleeping cars in 6 pairs, 2 lounge cars, 2 dining cars, 2 kitchen and staff cars, and 1 segregation van; sleeping cars have length over buffers 67 ft 8 in., and other cars, 65 ft 8 in.; all cars have width over waist panels 9 ft 3 3/16 in., and truck wheelbase 6 ft 6 in.; details of air conditioning.
