Design considerations of and field tests at Philip Sporn Station with first 2-cycle breaker for transmission line voltages; breaker interrupted transmission line and bus faults while mounted on trailer on which it was shipped; maximum breaker duty was 10,230 mva, which is believed to be highest fault duty ever imposed on 138-kv breaker in field test; longest interrupting time was 1.85 cycles.
