Method for calculation of supersonic axially symmetric flow of perfect gas around given blunt body involves iteration of solution of inverse problem, and matches bluntness of calculated body at nose with that of given one; solution of inverse problem is carried out; rational approximations are obtained for flow quantities on body in terms of arc length measured from nose; computing time on IBM 7090 is about 60 msec for solution of inverse problem, and less than second for direct problem; good agreement with measurements and other calculations is found in subsonic region when bluntness of given body is less than or equal to that of sphere.
