Paper attempts global examination of growth of noise nuisance in manner which can be used at any airport, large or small, once general passenger traffic growth has been established and kinds of routing predicted; various methods of assessing noise nuisance such as Noise and Number Index; Concept of Total Noise Energy, and Index of Community Nuisance; growth of traffic during next 20 yr is examined and three stages which must be considered -- growth of power arising from transfer to jets and then to supersonic flight, growth of power due to traffic increases, and saturation level of movements arising from control limitations.
