Reasons for growing problem appears to be greater noise-generating potentials of larger aircraft entering commercial service, rapidly growing volume of all types of aircraft traffic at principal national airports, and increasing number of people exposed to noise in general vicinity of major airports; factors responsible for complexity of aircraft-noise problem are examined and research efforts carried out by various authorities in developing aircraft-noise alleviation program.
