Brief review of radical design study of VTOL aircraft by H.Hertel of Institute of Aviation, West Berlin, Germany, Technical University; fuselage has dolphin-like shape giving better drag characteristics than conventional lines; lift and propulsion are by ducted fans; lift fans are swiveled out from retracted position inside fuselage and propulsion fans are rotated to give lift; no direct mechanical drive is used, power being derived from four gas generators.
