Objectives for efficient ground operations of supersonic transport (SST), as formulated by Federal Aviation Agency, are outlined; 15 selected airports were studied to determine degree of compatibility of existing arrangements with proposed SST designs; areas of study were pavements, terminal facilities, and community noise; maintenance discussion including airborne maintenance analysis covers engine-change considerations, maintenance and overhaul schedules, ground support equipment, and maintenance characteristics of SST.
