Effects on overall system of variations in controller and vehicle parameters hidden within structure of inner loops are often obscure and improvements in system characteristics obtained by modifying these parameters are difficult to assess; multiloop system analysis method for determining vector sensitivity of any closed-loop root to any open-loop parameter is presented; format for root sensitivities is used which provides common point of departure for derivation of open-, single-, and multi-loop system root sensitivities and which leads directly to parameter sensitivity ratios that are essential to analysis of multi-loop system root sensitivity; example of aircraft-autopilot altitude control system.
