Electric mini-car, in early stages of development by Carter Engineering and Co, is designed to seat two adults and two children side-by-side, in overall width of 5 ft 3 in.; four batteries are mounted in parallel under hood and engine, driving through medium of electromagnetic clutch is under floor, behind back axle; two experimental electric vehicles are being developed by General Motors Ltd; Electrovan has hydrogen-oxygen fuel cell system which supplies continuous output of approximately 32 kw and peak of 160 kw; Electrovair II uses silver-zinc batteries because of their ability to deliver high peak power and their good energy storage capacity.
