Study was conducted to illustrate value of lap shoulder belts as compared to lap belts only; investigations showed advantages of lap shoulder belts in decelerating individual in seated or up-right position, in preventing flow of blood from accelerating to heart and head, in supporting load over greater area of body, and in providing better containment within vehicle; 33 case histories are listed.
