Running of single wheel set is represented as undamped oscillating system excited by lateral irregularities in track; lower natural frequency as well as certain amount of damping of system is obtained without any play in guiding system of two axles in truck or four-wheeled vehicle; influence of rotational friction between vehicle body and truck frame is examined; effect of unequal wheel diameters; lateral displacement of wheel sets relative to each other and both axles not mounted exactly parallel to each other are discussed.
