According to International Standards Organization (ISO) information, grid of noise rating numbers (NRN) was used by British Railways (BR); noise level is taken as 60 for luxury and sleeper coaches, 65 for dining and long distance coaches, and 70 for suburban stock; use of fiberglass insulation, special brakes and light, good-riding trucks incorporating light wheels, quiet brakes, noise insulating suspension components will be obvious requirement; effective insulation of windows and doors will require adoption of double panes and well-sealed doors of substantial construction.
