Unconventional flight shows itself to be restricted to rather low Reynolds numbers, that is, between 1.0 and 5 million; subjects considered are insects, models, birds, flapping wings, manpower aircraft, sailplanes, gliders and sails; future of gliders may be in both of two directions -- continuation of present drive for increased range, speed and altitude for sake of accomplishment and drive for increased use of sailplanes for scientific investigation of air around Earth.
