Water cooled, four stroke cycle high speed diesel and gas engine family in 300 to 980 hp range is described; V-8 and V-12 configurations with 5 3/4 in. bore by 5 3/16 in. stroke; family is based on following design concepts -- compact engine of vee configuration; high speed; 200 bmep plus output, maximum interchangeability of parts, patterns, dies, and tooling; operation on diesel fuels, natural gas and LPG; adaptability to mobile and stationary installations as well as marine service.
