Results of investigation on corrosion of turbine housings of slow speed marine diesel engine turbo-chargers are presented, with tests conducted on board ship on turbochargers of free air capacities varying from 750 cu ft/min to 21,400 cu ft/min; nature and magnitude of problem; critical examination of literature; details of laboratory investigations and ship tests; interpretation of results; advantages and disadvantages of proposed method for modifying existing water-cooled turbochargers to aircooling.
