Investigation of air resistance in wind tunnels shows that from 60 to 84% of power required to propel closed car is necessary to overcome air resistance at speeds of 40 to 80mph; power savings by suitable streamlining of automobiles, amounting to 50% at 40 mph and 65% at 70 mph.
