Principal "Nord" trains are worked by 4-6-2 engines, nos. 3. 1201-3. 1290; results of author's observations on performances of these engines, and of "Est" engines, newest of which are 4-8-2 express, weighing 113 tons each, accompanied by 8-wheel tenders weighing 72 tons; boiler pressure raised from 242 to 284 lb per sq in.
