Alex. Stephen and Sons have converted 1800-ihp triple-explansion engine on coaster SS Annan; two three-furnace Scotch boilers replaced by pair of two-furnace Scotch boilers 12 ft 6 in. in diam and 11 ft 6 in. in length having working pressure of 200 lb per sq in.; on engine itself three new cast-iron cylinders having diameters of 16 1/2, 26 1/2 and 46 in. reduce total power to 1000 hp.
