Depot constructed by British Railways is designed primarily for welding of 60-ft long rails into continuous length of 300 ft or more; buildings are of brick and concrete, and consist of drilling machine shed, welding shop, transformer house, and office block; 10-ton overhead traversing crane moves along gantry 607 ft long with span of 76 ft 10 in.; six 60-ft traversing trolleys are used for rail assembly and dismantling.
