Driving habits of commercial vehicle operators studied to determine effects of various highway geometric design features on driver behavior; encroachment on left traffic lane and on shoulders of two-and four-lane divided highways; lateral placement data obtained in 17 states; portland cement concrete and bituminous pavements used in study; results show: on two-lane highways only 0.8% of trucks encroach on shoulders, and 2.3 encroach on left traffic lane.
