Investigation of their resistance to marine borers was carried out in Portugal; forest species such as Borassus aethiopum Mart, Burkea africana Hook, Dialium englerianum Henriques, Erythrophloeum guineense G.Don, Markhamia sessili Sprague, etc, resisted quite satisfactorily to organisms in question; physical and mechanical properties, and workability and resistance to borers of these African timbers are discussed.
