Major factors which affect design of military vehicles are environment, terrain features, and vehicle reliability; in attempt to identify those factors that are interrelated, chart was constructed as approach in identifying various characteristics that can conceivably conflict with each other; chart could be used as guide in preparation of requirements and shows that weight of vehicle affects range, speed, horsepower, and gradeability providing systematic method for trade-off considerations; problem of defining and measuring reliability is examined.
