Value of all-metal construction in saving weight is illustrated by comparing several bus designs; when Routemaster was designed it was estimated that weight saving of one ton could be achieved in comparison with vehicle of similar specification; weight saving was achieved by use of aluminum alloy throughout; to reduce weight on chassis, use of radial tires is recommended; it is shown that reduction of weight implies reduction of fuel consumption, if other factors remain same.
