Survey reviews ride instrumentation with reference to requirements for use in heavy, commercial highway vehicles; recommendations are made for measurement equipment which is economical and commercially available, and road testing procedures which facilitate acquisition and processing of data; new data on human response to vibration, presented by F.Pradko and R.A.Lee in SAE Paper 660139, are correlated with previously proposed criteria to show areas of agreement; procedures are recommended for interpretation of vibration measurements in terms of human response; desirable shock and vibration limits for cargo protection are also proposed.
