Transportation of petroleum and petroleum products is at same time competitive and complementary; trucks compete with railroads and pipe lines; pipe lines compete with barges and tankers; and tankers compete with barges; since pipe line and marine categories transport petroleum longest distances, they thus perform bulk ton-mile transportation job; data on costs, transportation facilities, tonnage delivered, terminal capital required and Ohio River construction are included.
