Paper contains three approximate solutions for finding permanent edge deflection of annular plate; plate, clamped at inner boundary, free at outer, is subjected to uniform transverse impulse on narrow annular area at outer edge; material is assumed to have rigid-plastic behavior and to deform according to Tresca yield condition and associated flow rule; experiments are described, and results in form of plate edge deflections are compared with three different theoretical predictions.
