Summary of surveys conducted in 1960 and 1963 of all state highway departments to determine which of inspection methods they use for various components and members of welded highway structures and detailed listing of replies of highway departments to 1963 survey are presented; study of sensitivity and uses of different inspection methods and examination of procedures used by various highway departments to select inspection procedures for proper control of weld quality in highway structures; references are made to number of currently available inspection codes.
