Important mechanisms involved in corrosive deterioration of modern missile systems hardware are described; corrosion problems inherent in missiles systems designs are discussed in relationship to reliability requirements established for this material; criteria which have governed selection of corrosion-inhibiting finishes for parts and components of typical and currently operational major missile system are presented.
