Moment of inertia and damping of liquid in completely filled, closed cylindrical tank is investigated experimentally for tanks with and without baffles; results are compared with H.F.Bauer's mechanical model, and it is shown that simpler model, which is not conceptually correct for extremely large daming, is sufficient for cases where only small damping is expected; approximate method of computing liquid moment of inertia in baffled tank is given.
