Study elucidates fine-scale structure of composite propellants in vicinity of burning surface; experimental approach to problem of analyzing flame structure based on measurements of flame radiation is presented; it was concluded from microdensitometer scannings that CN emission at 3883 A begins slightly above burning surface, at distance of 70 μ and persists over region of about 2 mm (width at 50% peak intensity).
