Object of study was to define tire nonuniformities which affect vehicle vibrations, and to determine methods by which nonuniformities can be measured; effects of nonuniformities of tire structure which cause contact patch force variations as tire is rolled in straight line at constant axle height are examined; results showing effects of mean radial load and roll size on structural, or static, nonuniformities indicate that force variations should be measured on large roll at rated load; important uniformity parameters are radial and lateral force variations; specifications for tire uniformity grading machines are given.
