Sixteen aerospace companies and research laboratories participated in study which was conducted on identical samples of four low-solar-absorptance white coatings -- rutile titanium dioxide/epoxy, rutile titanium dioxide/silicone, antimony trioxide/potassium silicate, and zinc oxide/potassium silicate; degradation experienced in actual spatial environment is known for first two coatings from experiment aboard OSO-I satellite; results thus far received from 12 organizations show considerable variance.
