Speed-length ratios of displacement-type surface ships in past were limited to under 2; however, to perform projected tactical missions U S Navy needs ships of much higher speeds resulting in speed-length ratios of 2 or above; to gain information in this respect, 27 models of conventional hull forms designated "Series 64" were designed, constructed, and tested at David Taylor Model Basin; results of bare hull resistance tests are reported.
