Paper is restricted to transmission couplings, and particular attention is given to torsional vibration problems; laboratory tests of stiffness and damping characteristics of two rubber couplings are discussed, together with those of two more-recently developed couplings; application of flexible couplings for marine propulsion is considered for direct drive and geared installations; actual examples are given in which merits of flexible couplings in solution of some torsional vibration problems are illustrated.
